Evenecer Hechavarria, age 89, of Orlando, Florida passed away unexpectedly on Tuesday, March 11, 2025 at Tampa General Hospital.

He was born on March 25, 1935 in Holguin, Cuba, son to his late parents, Luis Hechavarria and Cristina Gomez.

Evenecer is survived by his loving wife, Esperanza Hechavarria of Orlando; two daughters, Sandra Villasuso, and Melisa A. Hechavarria; his son, Ervin L. Hechavarria and his husband, Dr. William Hasson II, MD; three step-sons, Albert Martinez and his wife, Jenny, Daniel Martinez, and David Martinez and his wife, Silvia; two step-daughters, Marilyn Martinez, and Marisol Martinez; eleven grandchildren, Stephanie Villasuso, Anthony Villasuso, Gavin Mangual, Desirea Ramirez, Michael McConnell, Christopher McConnell, Amanda Charles, Yolanda Martinez, David Nicholas Martinez, Isabel M. Martinez, and Donovan Baggett; fifteen great-grandchildren; and his nephew, Carlos L. Hechavarria Pupo. 

He was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers, Carlos Hechavarria, and Bellito Hechavarria; his sister, Zeida Hechavarria; a step-son, Anthony Martinez; and all of his fifteen half-siblings.

Funeral services will be held on Friday, March 21, 2025 at 1:00 pm at Newcomer Funeral Home – East Orlando Chapel, 895 S. Goldenrod Rd, Orlando.

Visitation with the family will precede the service on Friday, March 21 from 11:00 am to 1:00 pm at the funeral home.

Entombment will follow at Glen Haven Memorial Park, Winter Park, FL.
