Everett "Duke" Clanton was born December 8, 1954, in Halifax, North Carolina, to James and Irene (Edmond) Clanton. Duke attended and graduated from Ralph J. Bunch (Weldon) high-school before pursuing his passion in trucking.

Everett was a dedicated husband, father and provider. He worked years as a professional Long Haul Truck Driver, a career that reflected his commitment to responsibility, discipline and hard work. He took great pride in supporting his family and was deeply devoted to their well-being.

Above all, Everett was a man who loved his family unconditionally and carried himself with strength, humility and integrity.

On, August 3, 2025, Everett passed away from this earthly place peacefully. Where he met with his love ones that had gone before him, his parents James and Irene Clanton, his son Eric Clanton, daughter Stephanie Wilson, step-son Darius Conaway, his sister Helen Clanton, and brother James Clanton.

He leaves to cherish his memories his beloved wife LaTonya Conaway-Clanton, his children; Felecia Peterson, Everett Wilson (Barbara), Jyair Conaway, Cheyenne Conaway, Terrence Tarver, Jaivon Clanton and Jaylen Clanton, sisters; Edith Lewter, Marjorie Putney, Shirley Bradley, and Janice Clanton, a host of grandchildren, step-children, extended family members and dear friends who will remember him forever.
