Everett Raymond Davis

Everett Raymond Davis, age 85, of French Creek, WV, died Thursday, March 5, 2026, at the home of his dear friend in Lusby, MD. He was born September 8, 1940, in Ellamore, WV, a son of the late Wilford L. and Valta Rowan Davis. He is survived by, three children, Shane Davis and wife Anita of Jay, FL, Jennifer Rohrbaugh and husband Kenny of Lothian, MD, and Paula Puffinburger of Bunker Hill, WV; one-step son, Joseph Shunamon and wife Kristine of Orlando, FL; nine grandchildren, Jessica Wells and husband Robert of San Diego, CA, Kelsy Anderson and husband John of Bunker Hill, Gabriel, Wyatt, Harley, and Hunter Rohrbaugh all of Lothian, and Kira Snavely and Sarah and Ashley Shunamon all of Orlando; two great-granddaughters, Savannah Wells and Adeline Anderson; one sister, Lieuthanna Hall and more nieces and nephews than he could count. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his grandson, Joshua Salyer, son-in-law, Randy Puffinburger; 10 brothers, Ira "Bud", Wilford Lorn, James "Jim", Artis, Harry, Larry "Beanie", Mason, Douglas, Donald, and Ruhl and three sisters, Sylvia Zirkle, Lillian Linger, and Macil Robinson. Mr. Davis served in the U.S. Army from 1964 – 1970, achieving SSG rank, Armed Forces Expeditionary Medal, National Defense Service Medal, and Good Conduct Medal. He started his career as a coal miner and then served in the Metropolitan Police Department from 1970 – 1990, and finally as a US Marshal from 1990 – 1993. In his spare time, he enjoyed playing cards with friends and family, surprising people with his famous taser cane, cracking jokes, and telling stories. He prided himself on being "the law" and spending time with his grandkids. Friends will be received, Saturday, March 14, 2026, from 11AM to 1PM at Poling-St. Clair Funeral Home. A funeral service will be held Saturday at 1PM with Pastor Ed Lowther officiating. Burial will follow in the Mt. Union Cemetery in Buckhannon. The Upshur County Honor Guard will perform military honors at the graveside. Online condolences may be made to the family at www.polingstclair.com.
