Kathy Lou McCartney, age 58, of French Creek, WV, died Monday, March 9, 2026, at Davis Memorial Hospital in Elkins, WV. She was born on July 25, 1967, in Buckhannon, WV, the daughter of the late James T. McCartney and Vonnie L. Burr. She is survived by three daughters, Heather Phillips, Rachel Roy and Brooke Phillips all of French Creek; one brother, Kevin McCartney and her niece and nephews. Ms. McCartney served in the U.S. Army in her early twenties and later was a homemaker for her children. Kathy loved to cook, listen to music and spend time outdoors. She never knew a stranger and always had the brightest smile in the room. Friends will be received Friday, March 13, 2026, from 11 AM to 1 PM at the Poling-St. Clair Funeral Home. A funeral service will be held 1 PM Friday at the funeral home with the Rev. Wease L. Day officiating. In honoring Ms. McCartney's wishes she will be cremated after the services.
