Everett Kellough Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Ware Funeral Home on Dec. 1, 2025.
Everett Eursa Kellough, 88, of Chillicothe, passed away at 7:56 a.m. Saturday, November 29, 2025, following a rapid decline after a broken hip.

He was born September 29, 1937, in Ross County, Ohio, to the late Eursa and Ruby (Chaney) Kellough. On September 16, 1961, he married Lorine Williams, who survives.

Also surviving are sons David Kellough and his wife Susan Long, of Columbus, and Matthew Kellough, of Carrollton, Ohio; a granddaughter, Astrid Long-Kellough; brothers, Jim (Diana) Kellough, Phillip (Alice) Kellough, and Danny (Cathy) Kellough; a sister, Connie (Larry) Irvin, all of Chillicothe; many nieces and nephews, and so many cousins. In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by a brother, Milton Kellough; a sister, Mary Skaggs Donahoe; and a daughter-in-law, Pat Kellough.

Everett worked for Twin Construction, Brewer and Brewer, and later retired from ODOT. If you ever travel in South-Central Ohio, you'll likely ride a road that his muscle and sweat helped build.

Everett lived out his life among the edge-of-Appalachia hills, hollows, creeks, fields, and forests of southwestern Ross Co. and northern Pike Co. He loved the outdoors. He enjoyed tending crops and raising livestock. He loved hunting morels in the spring, fishing in the summer, and feeding and watching his squirrels and birds in the fall and winter. He spent most evenings on the front porch watching the sun set behind the hills across the Black Run Valley.

Everett was a Christian and a member of Camelin Hill Church for over 60 years.
People who knew him will remember his folksiness, extreme friendliness, twinkly eyes, and his almost constant smile. His siblings and family will remember his gentle mischievousness. People will tell stories of his strength and stamina whenever there was a job to do, and they'll recall all the times he helped out someone who needed a hand.

He was a good one.

The family would like to extend a special "thank you" to the staff of Westmoreland for the care given to Everett and the compassion shown to our family during Everett's illness.
Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Thursday, December 4, 2025, in the WARE FUNERAL HOME with Pastor Rick Hartley officiating. Burial will follow in Twin Township Cemetery. Friends may call at the WARE FUNERAL HOME from 12 to 2 p.m. prior to his funeral service on Thursday.
