Evia Estelle McWilliams, 87, of Philadelphia, Mississippi passed on Tuesday, September 30, 2025, from her residence in Neshoba County, Mississippi. Funeral Services will be held 11:00 A.M. Saturday, October 4, 2025, from Beck Funeral Home Chapel of Philadelphia. Burial will follow from Donald Rest Cemetery in Philadelphia, Mississippi. Visitation will be held 10:00 A.M. - 10:45 A.M. Saturday, October 4, 2025, from Beck Funeral Home Philadelphia. Viewing will be closed to the Public. Beck Funeral Home Philadelphia is in charge of all arrangements.
Evia Estelle McWilliams was born December 31, 1937 to the late Sam Jasper Moore and Ruby Triplett Moore in Winston County, Mississippi. She attended school at Piney Woods School prior to moving to Philadelphia and attending Booker T. Washington High School.
Evia married Hulon McWilliams on January 9, 1960. To this union two children Dwight McWilliams and Jennifer McWilliams Harvey were born. Evia was a loving and devoted wife and mother and she loved her grandchildren.
Evia joined New Salem Baptist Church in her early years and later joined Morning Strat M.B. Church in Philadelphia, MS. Over the years she enjoyed fellowshipping with various churches in and around Philadelphia. She attended Carver Ave Church in her later years.
Evia was employed with Dr. Rudolph Posey Dentistry for six years. She retired from Wells Lamont after thirty four years of service. After retirement Evia cared for her father, mother and later her husband, She enjoyed visiting with family and friends. Shopping and watching ball-games were her other favorite pastimes. Evia could often be seen sitting on her drive-way watching people walk and drive by. She also enjoyed activities being held on the ballfield across from her home. In later years she enjoyed getting out and going for rides throughout the area with friends.
She is preceded in death by her parents, Sam and Ruby. Her husband Hulon. and grandson Donovahn Harvey, and son Dwight McWilliams.
She leaves to cherish her memory, her daughter Jennifer (Derrick) Harvey of Philadelphia, MS; brother, James Harris of Philadelphia, MS; grandchildren, Adrienne, Samantha, Alexandria, and Nicholas (Angel) McWilliams of Oklahoma, and Ta'Liyah and Eric Harvey, of Philadelphia, MS; two great granddaughters, Alora Eve McWilliams and Ember Delores McWilliams of Oklahoma; four sister-in-laws, Carol (Carl) Speight, Sara Mosley, Helen Stribling, and Kathy Spivey (R.B); two brother-in-laws, Charles Ray (Catherine) Fox and Bobby Joe (Maria) Fox: One daughter in-law, Charlene McWilliams of Broken Arrow Oklahoma.
Pallbearers are: Stanley Backstrom, Tony Stewart, Eric Harvey, Fransico Wilson, Douglas Patrick, and Shaun Seales.
Elder James Young is the officiant of services.
