Evlyn (Ev) Sue Carlile passed away in the early hours of November 1, 2025, and is now in Heaven with the Lord.
Born on April 12, 1954, in Fond du Lac, Wisconsin, to Harold and Patsy, Ev grew up knowing and loving the Lord. She attended Luther Memorial and graduated from Immanuel Lutheran High School. Her faith was the foundation of her life, guiding her through every joy and every challenge.
Ev and her husband Stan Carlile built a life filled with love and laughter. They welcomed their cherished daughter, Sara, in 1985. Ev was a loving wife and a devoted mother. After Stan's passing, Ev found strength and purpose in her faith and in raising their daughter.
Over the years, Ev lived in several places that held special meaning, including Fond du Lac, WI, Culver City, CA, Phoenix AZ, Cheyenne, WY and eventually Eau Claire, Wisconsin, where she started her business, Simple Office Solutions (SOS). Her integrity, kindness, and strong work ethic shone through in all she did.
In 2022, Ev joyfully returned to Phoenix to be close to Sara and her family. She treasured every moment spent with her grandchildren, finding deep joy in watching them grow.
Ev was known for her radiant smile and her generous, caring spirit. She loved people deeply and had a special gift for making everyone feel valued and loved.
Ev had a great sense of adventure. She loved to travel and could make any trip memorable by finding unique, fun side stops along the way. Her ability to turn ordinary moments into lasting memories was one of her many gifts.
Her faith was always at the center of her life. Ev was an active member of her church community, participating in the ladies' groups, teaching Sunday school, organizing crafts for Vacation Bible Schools, volunteering wherever help was needed, and even driving teens on traveling Vacation Bible trips across the United States. She found great joy in serving the Lord and others through her time, talents, and open heart.
Ev loved holidays and birthdays finding every opportunity to make them special. She always found the perfect gift or planned fun activities for family. She delighted in sharing her birthday with her aunt and niece, a blessing that always made the day extra special. Her laughter, creativity, and unwavering spirit made every family gathering brighter and every celebration feel extraordinary.
Even after her accident in early 2025, Ev's faith never wavered. She remained positive, grateful, and steadfast in her belief that God was with her through it all. She often reminded others of God's love, grace, and perfect will, serving as a living example of unshakable faith and peace that passes understanding. This was demonstrated daily by her posts on Facebook, where she shared her faith and encouraging reminders of the Lord's love and support.
Ev's legacy of love, perseverance, and faith will continue through her daughter, Sara (Carlile) Taylor, and her husband, Chris, her beloved grandchildren, and all who were touched by her kindness and unwavering trust in the Lord. She is also survived by her siblings, Sandy Ayres (Rick), Kathy Markus (Mike), and Dan Gilbertson; and her beloved nieces, Becca, Renae, and Erin, and their families, whom she loved deeply and held close to her heart.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Patsy Schuck and Harold Gilbertson, her stepmother, Carol Gilbertson, her brother Ricky, and her husband, Stan Carlile.
Though our hearts grieve her passing, we rejoice in knowing she is whole again and home in Heaven, where there is no more pain, only joy everlasting.
