Kalen Sue Higuera, a cherished soul and beacon of love, departed from this world on October 21, 2025, in Goodyear, Arizona, after a valiant battle with congestive heart failure. Born on July 11, 1938, in Mt Vernon, Illinois, Kalen's journey through life was marked by her unwavering faith, her delightful sense of humor, and her profound love for her family and friends.
Kalen's early years in Illinois laid the foundation for a life characterized by dedication and service. After graduating from high school, she embarked on a professional path that would see her become an invaluable executive assistant to the Vice President of Security at Revco Drug Inc. In her role, Kalen demonstrated not only her exceptional organizational skills but also her innate ability to connect with people on a personal level, earning the respect and affection of her colleagues.
Her commitment to her faith was a cornerstone of Kalen's existence. As a devout Christian, she lived a life that exemplified the teachings of Christ, extending kindness and compassion to all she encountered. Kalen's belief in the power of love and the strength of family guided her through life's challenges and triumphs.
Kalen's interests were as diverse as they were heartfelt. She found joy in the simple pleasure of watching old black and white movies, a pastime that transported her to a bygone era of cinematic splendor. Her fascination with World War II history spoke to her deep appreciation for the sacrifices made by so many for the freedoms we enjoy today. Kalen also delighted in the art of home design, often visiting model homes to gather inspiration and dream up new possibilities.
However, it was her role as a mother that Kalen cherished above all else. Her daughters, Vickie Lee Zare-Grooms and Valarie Lyn McDowell, were the light of her life. Kalen's love for her daughters was boundless, and together they shared countless memories filled with laughter, adventure, and unconditional love.
Kalen's legacy is one of warmth and generosity. Those who knew her often described her as loving, interesting, and funny-a testament to the joy she brought to every gathering and the wisdom she imparted through her stories and humor.
Though she walks with the Lord now, Kalen leaves behind a tapestry of memories that will forever be etched in the hearts of those who loved her. She joins in heaven her beloved husband, James Higuera, her devoted parents, Idella Eller Bedwell and Marshall Charles Eller, and her dear brother, Jerry Marshall Eller, all of whom preceded her in passing.
Kalen's life was a reflection of her unshakeable faith, her enduring love, and her ability to find beauty in the world around her. As we bid farewell to this remarkable woman, we take solace in the knowledge that her spirit lives on through the lives she touched and the love she shared. Her laughter, her wisdom, and her compassionate heart will be deeply missed, but the example she set as a follower of Christ will continue to inspire and guide us.
In honoring Kalen Sue Higuera, we celebrate a life well-lived-a life filled with purpose, joy, and an abundance of love. May she rest in eternal peace in the loving embrace of our Savior, as we carry her memory forward until we meet again.(The draft text of this obituary was generated using artificial intelligence technology) To send flowers to the family or plant a tree in memory of Kalen Sue Higuera, please visit our floral store.
