Sandra Jean Carter, age 80, passed away on October 17, 2025, in Sun City, Arizona.
Born in Peoria, Illinois, Sandra was the daughter of Robert "Bob" and Dorothy Carter. She grew up surrounded by the love and laughter of her four sisters - Joyce, Bobbie, Nonie, and Dee Dee - with whom she shared a lifelong bond. Growing up in Nevis, Minnesota, their life was filled with adventures. They lived by a lake in the forest. She worked at a summer camp and was always bringing home one animal or another, including a raccoon.
After high school, she attended business school in Fargo, North Dakota. Shortly afterward she was hired as a secretary. She was living in a house with several other young women. Sandra enjoyed being social and having friends. While enjoying time in their front yard of their home, Sandra met George.
Sandra married George Johnson, on August. 7, 1965. Their life together was filled with adventures. They packed up and moved to Phoenix, AZ. They had a daughter, Teri Ann, Novembre 1971. Just a few short years after having Teri, they moved to live in Indonesia for George's work as a construction foreman for two years. Not long after they returned to the USA, George started his own construction company. Sandra became his bookkeeper/secretary. They moved to New River, AZ from Phoenix, where they developed strong friendships and became involved in community happenings. After many years, they retired to Ash Fork, AZ., again, developing strong friendships, becoming members of the local American Legion and other community activities. George loved Sandra, his "Blondie" or "Muffet"'
Sandra raised Teri to be an involved community member, enjoy social activities and love family deeply. Sandra was Teri's most avid supporter and cheerleader. She loved her son-in-law as though he was her own son. She was very proud of all that he has accomplished. Dylan and Tanner, her grandsons were her light. She loved attending their school activities and listening to their future plans as young men.
Sandra's life was marked by grace, resilience, and a deep devotion to family. Her warmth and kindness touched everyone who knew her, and her gentle spirit will be remembered with love and admiration.
She leaves behind a legacy of compassion and strength, carried on by those who knew her best. Sandra's memory will live on in the hearts of her family and friends, and in the stories they share. She leaves behind her daughter, Teri, Son -in-Law David, Grandson's Dylan and Tanner, Sister's Bobbie, Nonie and Dee Dee. Sister-in-law Ellen and Brother-in-law Jonathon. And many nieces and nephews that had the pleasure of calling her, "Auntie".
A memorial will be held in Sun City to celebrate her life. To send flowers to the family or plant a tree in memory of Sandra Jean Johnson, please visit our floral store.
