Fannie "Squaw" Barnett, age 80, of Zephyrhills, Florida, passed away peacefully on Saturday, October 18, 2025, in Zephyrhills. She was born on October 12, 1945, in St. Augustine, Florida, to the late Charlie and Edith Burres.
Fannie dedicated 35 years of her life as a Certified Nursing Assistant, where her compassion and gentle care touched countless lives. She married the love of her life, Ronald Barnett, on August 23, 1980, and together they shared a beautiful life filled with love, laughter, and family.
She had a deep love for her flowers and dogs, finding joy and comfort in tending to her garden and caring for her pets.
Fannie is survived by her devoted husband, Ronald Barnett; her children, Mac (Edie) McSwain and Melinda (Jimmy) Newsome; her siblings Donald Burres and Ronald Burres; five cherished grandchildren; and eight beloved great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Charlie and Edith Burres; her siblings, Dempsey Burres, Charles Burres, Lester Burres, Christine Funk, and Helen Willey; and her great-grandson, Wyatt Watson. She also joins her beloved pets Minnie, Winnie, and Benny in eternal rest.
A funeral service will be held on Saturday, October 25, 2025, at 1:00 PM at Hodges Family Funeral Home in Dade City, with visitation beginning at 12:00 PM. To send flowers to the family or plant a tree in memory of Fannie, please visit our floral store.
