Fay Ann (nee Janzen) Krause passed away peacefully on September 1, 2025 at the age of 80 in Mankato, Minnesota after a long battle with dementia. Until the end, Fay maintained her kindness, grace, compassion, sharp wit, and love of family and friends. Every day, she expressed joy and gratitude to all around her.
One of the constants in Fay’s life was her unwavering faith in God and her dedication to serving others. After attending Bethel College in Kansas, she graduated from Mankato State College with a Bachelor of Science degree in elementary education. After marrying her sweetheart, Rich, in June 1967, Fay taught in a classroom until Stan was born, then decided to raise her children and help Rich as owners of ServiceMaster of Mankato. Somehow, she found time to always put family first by bringing Stan and Lana to all of their extracurricular activities. If there was only one person in the audience, it was her. After her children graduated from high school, Fay needed more to do and became a paraprofessional educator for District 77. In retirement, Fay served with PACT Ministries, volunteering at the Neighborhood Thrift Store and distributing food through their Food for All program.
A highlight for Fay was spending time with family. Oh, how she loved her grandchildren, Tanner and Sema. Years ago, she frequently traveled to the cities to take care of them while Stan and Handan were at work. She also loved to travel to Alaska to visit Lana and Dave. For many years, Fay and Rich did mission work in the remote Alaskan villages of Unalakleet and Shaktoolik.
Those who knew Fay regarded her as a very kind person, who always made friends wherever she went. She especially enjoyed playing cards; going for walks with her neighbor, MaryClare; spending time with her sister-in-law, Diane; and talking with her neighborhood ladies at Pathstone. She will be missed by all.
Fay was preceded in death by her husband, Richard Krause; dad, William “Bill” Janzen; mom, Mabel (nee Worms) Janzen/Sawatsky; and brother, Harold Janzen. She is survived by her son, Stanton (Handan) Krause; daughter, Lana (David) Scanlan; and grandchildren, Tanner and Sema Krause.
Memorials are preferred to Crossview Covenant Church or PACT Ministries.
Funeral service will be held at 3pm, Saturday, September 6, 2025 at Crossview Covenant Church in North Mankato with visitation one hour prior. Burial will follow at Mountain Lake Cemetery.
