It is with great sadness we announce the passing of Michael Steven Johnson, of Mankato and formerly of Minneapolis, on August 27, 2025, at the age of 63.

Funeral Service 12:00 p.m., (Noon) Tuesday, September 2, 2025, at Mankato Mortuary with visitation one hour before service. Private Interment in Pleasant View Memorial Gardens, Burnsville, MN.

Memorials may be given to the National Kidney Association.

Michael was born December 12, 1961, in Minneapolis to Richard and Patricia (Callahan) Johnson. Michael grew up in Burnsville and attended Burnsville High School. Michael lived in Minneapolis most of his adult life working at the family business, Grand Avenue Residence, as a cook for over 40 years. After his cooking career he moved to Mankato for the last chapter of his life making new friendships and new experiences.

Michael was compassionate, kind, generous, and thoughtful, always willing to listen and help others as asked or needed.

Michael loved spending time with his family and friends to the fullest extent.

Michael is survived by his mother, Patricia; sister, Nancy (Allen) Soderbeck; nieces and nephews, Emily (Carlo) Franco, Lindsay (Kyle) Johnson, Kellen (Teresa) Olsen, William (Amy) Soderbeck; and eight great nieces and nephews.

Michael was preceded in death by his father, Richard.
