Allan David Unseth, 86, of Virginia Beach passed peacefully on August 27, with his wife of 60 years, Linda, by his side.

He is survived by Linda; his siblings Vivian, Karen, and Ted; his four sons, David (Catherine), Christopher (Cristiane), Robb (Phuong), and Jonathan; and his nine grandchildren, Sabrina, Olivia, Alexander, Nicholas, Francesca, Dominic, Maximilian, Ruby, and John.

Allan was born in Suttons Bay, Michigan on December 16, 1938, and as the son of a Lutheran Pastor, spent his childhood in Michigan, Illinois, and Minnesota. He earned his Associate's degree from Bethany Lutheran College, his Bachelor's Degree from the University of Minnesota, and his Master's Degree from Mankato State University. He taught briefly at Bethany Lutheran College before working as a CPA with Ernst and Ernst in Chicago. Deciding that he wanted to be in the classroom instead of a cubicle, for 33 years he was a dedicated professor of accounting at Norfolk State University. Beginning as an assistant professor, he later served as Associate Dean of the Business School. He was deeply respected by colleagues and students alike for his commitment to education and mentorship.

Allan was also an enthusiastic sports fan - a passionate follower of college wrestling, college softball, and the Minnesota Vikings. He had an extraordinary gift for recalling facts and statistics, especially about his beloved Vikings. He remained active throughout his life, playing racquetball competitively with college students well into his 70s, and enjoying daily three-mile walks on the beach. He found great joy in the outdoors, appreciating the beauty of God's creation.

Above all, Allan was a man of strong faith. He devoted much of his time and resources to his church, where he found fellowship among parishioners and fulfillment in his relationship with the Lord. His faith, love for family, and joy in life will be his enduring legacy.

A celebration of life was held on August 30, 2025.
