With heavy hearts, we share that Patrick Quinn Chicoine passed away peacefully wrapped in love on Sunday, August 17th, 2025, at his parent's home in
Virginia Beach, Virginia following a 15-year courageous battle with Brain Cancer. Patrick was born in San Diego, California to Mark and Kathy Chicoine. He was a graduate of Cape Henry Collegiate School, Class of 2006 and earned his BA from Virginia Tech, Class of 2010. Patrick was an outstanding athlete, teammate, leader and was the captain of the Cape Henry soccer and baseball teams. Patrick's Personal Trainer career spanned over 14 years including being the General Manager at Inlet Fitness.
Despite facing an aggressive and persistent cancer, Pat never wanted nor was he ever defined by his illness. Pat lived his life to the fullest with extraordinary resilience, determination and a zest for life. Pat embraced life, love, friendship and family. At just 37, he had already built a life of meaning-respected and admired as a fitness professional and personal trainer, always known for his kindness and strength. He was deeply loved by his family, his devoted parents Mark and Kathy and his younger sister, Meggie, who shared an especially close bond with him.
His joyful presence left an imprint on all who knew him, not only because of his perseverance, but because of the warmth and compassion he carried through his life. Friendships filled Pats life, he treasured his many friends, as well as his Inlet Fitness family. His life mattered to so many friends. As a trainer, he was the ultimate encourager, always pushing his clients to be the best version of themselves. Someone once coined the expression, "to know Pat is to love Pat". His legendary big smile and sparkling blue eyes were infectious.
Outside of work, Pat was a lifelong fan of the New York Yankees and New England Patriots. Pat lived his short life to the fullest and loved watching and discussing sports, listening to music, biking, being on the water, attending concerts, playing golf, taking his beautiful golden retriever Shoey for walks on the beach, traveling to his favorite destinations, San Diego, Miami, Newport RI, Cape Cod and Las Vegas. Pat radiated warmth, a fun spirit, inspiring so many, he will be deeply missed and never forgotten. His memory will always be with us.
Pat is survived by his father Mark Chicoine and his mother Kathy Chicoine of Virginia Beach, sister Meggie, niece Daisy and many caring aunts, uncles and cousins. He was preceded in death by his loving grandparents.
Pat and his family befriended and appreciated the many members of his care team from the Tisch Brain Tumor Center at Duke University including Dr. Katherine Peters, Dr. Alan Friedman and Nurse Alicia. The family wishes to express its deepest gratitude to Dr. Thomas Alberico of Virginia Oncology at the Brock Cancer Center and Dr. Joe Koen from Neurosurgical Specialists. In addition, the family would like to recognize the extraordinary loving care provided by his home hospice team from Wings Over Virginia Hospice. Specifically, Teresa, Tricia, Ariel, Janet and Brenda. In lieu of flowers, donations in Patrick's honor may be made to Wings Over Virginia Hospice.
