Adelaide Fay Unger, born on December 30, 1952, in Oberlin, Kansas, was the daughter of John Wahrman and Donna Mae Urban. Fay grew up in Cambridge, Nebraska with her mother, Donna Mae, and her adoptive father, Allen Frandsen. Fay graduated from Cambridge High School, later advancing her education at a business school in Grand Island. Her dedication to caring for others led her to becoming a Licensed Practical Nurse, a path she pursued at McCook Community College.

On April 12, 1975, Fay married John Unger in Cambridge, Nebraska, embarking on a journey of love and companionship that would last for 50 years and to their union Michelle and Jeremiah were born. Together, they made their home in Indianola, Nebraska, before settling in Stratton, Nebraska, where they built a life filled with laughter and love. In 2025, due to health concerns, Fay moved to Columbus, Nebraska.

Fay was a proud and dedicated LPN, contributing her skills at various local nursing homes and traveling for mobile nursing throughout her career. Fay was a longtime member of Alcoholics Anonymous; she served others by volunteering her talents as a state officer for AA. Her passion for life extended beyond her profession. Fay cherished watching Husker football, fishing, and visiting the casinos in Black Hawk. A lover of games and serene moments, she found joy in playing computer games and enjoying her favorite television shows. An accomplished musician, Fay played both the clarinet and piano. Fay was a collector at heart, amassing many spoons, coins, and sports cards over the years. She adored her feline companion, Minotaur. Her greatest joy, however, came from her grandchildren, whom she loved to spoil and nurture.

Fay passed away peacefully on January 2, 2026, at the age of 73, in Columbus, Nebraska. She was preceded in death by her daughter, Michelle Grier; her mother, Donna Mae Frandsen; her father, John Wahrman; her adoptive father, Allen Frandsen; her aunt, Roberta Urban; as well as other loved ones.

She is survived by her devoted husband of fifty years, John Unger of Stratton; her son, Jeremiah (Keisha) Unger of Benkelman, Nebraska; her cherished grandchildren: Roemello Grier of Stratton, Dexter Smith of Wauneta, Nebraska, Bryson Smith, Jacob Fanning, Trynt Unger, and Emma Unger all of Benkelman; her brother, Larry (Karen) Frandsen of Mission, Texas; her aunt, Mary (Harry) Depe of Culbertson, Nebraska; as well as countless friends and family whose lives she touched.

Adelaide Fay Unger lived a life marked by love, dedication, and compassion, leaving behind a legacy of cherished memories for all who knew her. She will be deeply missed and lovingly remembered.

Cremation was chosen and services are pending at this time.
