Faye Jacobs Deitz, 75, of Sylva, NC, was called to her Heavenly Home on Monday, September 16th, 2024. She was reunited with her parents Mans and Ann Jacobs, sisters Ruth Jones and Phyllis Watson, infant brother Roger Jacobs and sister-in-law Shelbia Jacobs.
Faye was a proud graduate of the Sylva-Webster Class of 1967; she met wonderful lifelong friends who provided Faye with countless beautiful, fun memories. Faye had worked at Western Carolina University for forty-four years and during her time there she advocated and genuinely cared for many students, but also created a host of dear friends with her fellow staff. She had an extraordinary care and concern for others.
Faye was a phenomenal cook; her family raved over Faye’s many homecooked meals. From the broccoli casserole to her banana pudding, but most of all the grandbabies cheered for Nana’s Famous Mac and Cheese. Every Christmas, she truly out did Santa Clause. She also had a wonderful sense of humor and kept her friends always laughing. Above all, she made every moment together special with her ability to go above and beyond. Faye ensured others felt appreciated and noticed, whether it be by remembering a birthday or just checking in. She truly put others before herself. She had a deep relationship with God and always prayed for others from the heart.
Left to cherish Faye’s memory are her loving husband of fifty years Mike Deitz, cherished daughters Mikki Hernandez (Alvaro) of Athens, GA, and Mandi Deitz (Matthew Humphrey) of Erwin, TN, and beloved grandchildren Evan (15) and Nicolas (10) Hernandez. Faye also leaves behind her brother Bobby Jacobs, Melanie Rider who Faye loved as her own and several special cousins, nephews and nieces.
Faye loved her family and friends dearly; she will be deeply missed by all.
A visitation will be held from 1pm to 3pm on Thursday, September 19, 2024, at Appalachian Funeral Services; a funeral service will be at 3pm in the chapel of Appalachian Funeral Services with Rev. Corey Boone, Rev. Eddie Stillwell and Rev. Roy Burnette officiating. A graveside to follow at Parris Cemetery of Sylva, North Carolina.
