Faye Johnson Barnette, a cherished soul who brought joy and love to all she encountered, passed away peacefully in her home on August 28, 2025, at the age of 69. Born on October 30, 1955, in York, South Carolina, Faye dedicated her life to nurturing others, both in her professional and personal pursuits.

For over 20 years, Faye was a 5-star Q-rated childcare provider, touching the lives of countless children and their families with her kindness and wisdom. Her passion for education saw her earn an Associate's Degree in Early Childhood Education from Central Piedmont Community College, laying the groundwork for a fulfilling career that showcased her gentle spirit and unwavering commitment to the well-being of the young.

A devoted member of Central Church of God until her final days, Faye remained steadfast in her faith while also giving of herself to the community as a beloved volunteer with the hospitality team and childcare services at Victory Christian Center Church. Her kind words of encouragement and willingness to lend a helping hand to anyone in need painted a vivid portrait of her beautiful character, which radiated sweetness, patience, and faith.

Faye's proudest accomplishments were the loving relationships she cultivated throughout her life. She was the beloved wife of Kenneth Barnette for 49 glorious years, a partnership that stood as a testament to their enduring love and devotion. Faye was also a devoted mother to her three daughters, Melissa Barnett-Barker (Derrick), Shiatima Barnette, and Tabitha Barnette, who carry forward her legacy of compassion and strength. Her two grandchildren, Derrick Terron Barker Jr. (DJ) and Alyssa Barker, were the light of her life, filling her days with laughter and joy.

In her free time, Faye found happiness in simple pleasures. Whether it was embracing the beauty of nature, indulging her passion for reading, sewing, cooking, baking, or enjoying playful moments with games and coloring apps on her phone, her interests conveyed a zest for life that was infectious.

She leaves behind her loving husband, daughters, grandchildren, and a large family that includes her sister, Imogene Brown (Paul) and her brothers, David Johnson (Shannon), Ricky Johnson (Sandra Osbourne), and Larry Dean Brown (Lisa Moore). Faye also leaves a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends, all of whom will remember her for the warmth and love she generously extended throughout her life.

Faye joins her beloved mother, Annette Johnson Brown; father, Ike Moore; daughter, Angela Brown; and sister, Lois Hinton, in eternal peace. Her spirit will forever live on in the memories of those she touched with her kindness and love.

Visitation will be held at Central Church located at 5301 Sardis Rd (The Family Life Center). Charlotte, NC 28270, on September 5, 2025, from 12:30 PM to 1:00 PM, followed by a Funeral Service at  1:00PM. The Family will have a private viewing prior to public viewing. The Graveside Service will take place at 2:30PM at Sunset Memory Garden, located at 8901 Lawyers Rd, Mint Hill, NC 28227.

Faye's legacy of love and compassion will continue to shine brightly in the hearts of all who had the honor of knowing her. She will be deeply missed, but her memory will forever be a source of inspiration and strength to her family and friends.
