Faye Olive Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Sullivan-King Mortuary & Crematory - Anderson on Jun. 18, 2024.
It is with great sadness that the family of Malinda Faye Olive of Anderson, (formerly of Georgia), announces her passing at the age of 95 after a brief illness, on June 17, 2024, just shy of her 96th birthday.
Born July 22, 1928, in Headland, AL, she was the daughter of the late Tillie Jay and Ethel Mae Mims Hunt and was married to beloved husband, Harry Brawner Olive for 47 years until his passing in 1994.
Faye was a homemaker and an avid gardener. She enjoyed all things gardening, from planting shrubs like hydrangeas and nandina and trees and planting her own lawn from plugs, to even learning to hybridize her own daylilies and Gerbera daisies. Her pride in growing and sharing gardening tips was a joy that was passed down to each of her children who take pride in their own gardens and appreciated her advice and guidance over the years.
Cooking was another passion she enjoyed even until her later years - swapping tips and recipes for cherished family dishes and sharing the secrets that made them special - she even made her own pickles to use in her potato salad.
She was an expert seamstress and made many special items of clothing for herself and her children as well as reupholstering furniture and making decorative items for her home. When she wanted to do something, she had limited knowledge of, she went to the library and looked up the subject checking out books to guide her in a new venture. (These were of course the days before internet/computers.) She was smart, strong, beautiful, and practical, and she and Harry raised their four children with love and joy.
Loving mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and sister, she was a blessing to her family, and she will be dearly missed.
Survivors include her son, Charles Michael "Mike" Olive (Linda) of Rockledge, FL, and daughters; Cindy Karen Olive Freund (Ronnie) of Columbus, GA, and Melissa Nanette Olive of Anderson; grandchildren: David, Daniel (Brittney, and her daughter Aubrey) and Justin Freund; great grandchild, Eli Freund; and sister, Dorothy Campbell of Columbus, GA.
In addition to her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by daughter, Constance Adele Olive, brother, Marvette Hunt, and sister, Sybil Burke.
Graveside services will be held at 11 am, Friday, June 21, at Parkhill Cemetery, 4161 Macon Road, Columbus, GA.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Hospice of the Upstate, 1835 Rogers Road, Anderson, SC 29621.
