The Smith and Tyson families are sad to announce the passing of our beloved Faye Tyson Smith. Faye was called home on Sunday 12/28/25 after a sudden and severe illness she was unable to recover from. She is now at peace and in the good company of Christopher Smith Sr and all the loved ones who have preceded her that she has missed so very much.

Faye touched many lives with her warmth and generosity. Her passion for education and counseling young people led her through a career as both a teacher of mathematics and a guidance counselor. In her retirement she was an active member of her church and helped extend their ministry through soup kitchen activities and by helping to create a healthcare clinic for the community in which she lived. Her family was always at the forefront of Faye's thoughts and she loved each of them dearly.

Because of the far reaching nature of Faye's love the family will be offering two opportunities for those who wish to pay their respects to Faye and honor her life.

Friday 1/2/26 there will be a service held at St Michael's Catholic Church in Montezuma. Services will begin with a brief viewing at 4pm followed by a Funeral Mass at 5pm. A potluck dinner will be held in her honor in the adjoining church hall at the conclusion of the service. Her church family was very important to her and so we wish to extend the invitation to all who wish to attend.

Saturday 1/3/26 a public viewing will be held from 1-4pm at Watson-Matthews Funeral Home on Dooly St in Montezuma. All are invited to pay respects and remember Faye in the joyful light in which she lived. The family will be hosting a small gathering for immediate family and close friends at Faye's home in Montezuma following the conclusion of the viewing.

Flowers or condolences may be sent to Watson-Matthews Funeral Home 322 N Dooly St, Montezuma, GA 31063 if you are unable to attend in person.

Our worlds are a little dimmer with Faye no longer here, but heaven has gained a bright light and beautiful soul.

Arrangements have been entrusted to Watson-Mathews Funeral Home in Montezuma, Ga.
