Allen Faye Bass Thompson was born near Bassfield on August 22, 1929 to A.Q. Bass and Mattie Smith Bass.  Her father died when she was only one year old and Mattie moved back to her family in the Red House community near Prentiss where her brother A. B. Smith operated a store.  They lived there until Faye was fourteen.  Her mother took a job as a telephone operator and they moved back to Bassfield, where she finished high school and later attended Pearl River Jr. College.

She married Joe B. She is survived by two sons, Michael (Wanda) of Bassfield and Patrick of Prentiss; five grandchildren, Blake Thompson (Jenny), Sara Thompson McRaney (Kevin), Deidra Fagan, Drake Grant, Dakota Grant and nine great-grandchildren, Noah Cleveland, Hayden Thompson, Emily McRaney, Ethan McRaney, Kasion Grant, Kartley Grant, Kanon Grant, Kinlee Fagan, and Kylynn Entrican.
Preceding her in death were her parents; husband, Joe B. Thompson; six sisters, Maude Bass, Ida DeForrest, Emma Shivers, Lillian Jared, twins-Lovie McDonald and Dovie Griffith and one brother, Houston Bass.
The family wishes to thank Amedisys Care Service, especially Michelle Boleware Reid; caregivers, Andrea Daley Brown, Eddie Ruth Hathorn and Jackie Thompson; her nephew, Edward Bass, who visited almost every day, special friend and neighbor Norma Hennis; neighbor Lowery Saulters; her cousin, Lillian Ratcliff, Bettye Clark, Brother Ken Roberts and all those who brought food, those who served and her friends and relatives who made her last days better by visits and phone calls.
