Federico Cano Obituary

Visit the Harrell Funeral Home of Austin website to view the full obituary.
Federico Arreguin Cano Jr., affectionately known as Fred to his loved ones, was called to his eternal rest on March 6, 2026, in Austin, Texas, after experiencing health complications. Born on July 31, 1947, in Alice, Texas, Fred was a beacon of strength and joy to all who knew him.

Fred was the cherished son of the late Federico R. Cano Sr. and Tomasa Cano. His life was a testament to the values his parents instilled in him: faith, family, and service. He was a devout Christian who lived his faith through every action and interaction, touching the lives of many with his kindness and generosity.

Fred answered the call of duty and served with honor in the United States Army and National Guard. His commitment to service continued throughout his career in the automotive industry, where he was highly respected for his integrity and work ethic. Fred also completed studies in computer programming at a local business college in Austin, Texas.

Fred's legacy is carried on by his beloved wife, Julia Cano, who was his partner in faith and love for 56 years. Together they raised two wonderful children, Noe A. Cano and Elisha D. Ramos (married to Tony Ramos), who Fred adored and took great pride in. His joy was multiplied with the blessings of his grandsons, Roger Vasquez Jr. and Tony Ramos Jr., who brought boundless happiness to his life.

He is also survived by his brother, Juan Cano, who will fondly remember the bond they shared throughout their lives. Fred's family was the cornerstone of his existence, and he cherished every moment spent with them.

Fred's passions extended beyond his family and faith. He had a lifelong love for classic cars and could often be found at car shows, admiring the craftsmanship and sharing stories with fellow enthusiasts. His dedication to his hobbies was matched only by his unwavering support for his favorite sports teams, the Dallas Cowboys and the Texas Longhorns. Game days were sacred, filled with cheer and camaraderie.

As we gather to commemorate Fred's journey home, we celebrate a life rich in love, laughter, and unwavering faith. His spirit lives on in the hearts of those who were blessed to know him, and his memory will be cherished forever.

We take solace in the knowledge that Fred has been welcomed into the loving arms of his Savior, and we find comfort in the promise of eternal life. As we bid farewell to a man of great character and love, we hold tight to the memories that will forever be a guiding light in our lives.

Farewell, dear Fred, until we meet again in the glorious presence of our Lord. Your life was a beautiful reflection of God's grace, and you will be deeply missed by all.

A public visitation will be held from 12:00PM -1:00PM Tuesday March 17th, 2026 at Harrell funeral homes of Austin. A funeral service will begin at 1:00PM followed by a graveside service at Onion Creek Memorial Parks.
