Felipa Hernandez, age 88, passed away December 18, 2024 in El Campo, TX. She was born on February 5, 1936 in Agua Dulce, TX to the late Dionicio Trevino and Francisca Trevino. She met Guillermo "Willie" Hernandez in the fields of cotton and married him on August 27, 1953 in Edna, TX. They spent time in Robstown, La Ward, Edna, New Taiton, Crescent and finally settled down in El Campo, TX.
Felipa loved cooking!! She was always making tamales and had her regular customers. Anybody whomever stopped at her house, she never let them go hungry. Her house was always filled with love, joy and happiness. She was a church going women who helped out in the kitchen on various Sundays of the year. Always happy to make tortillas or whatever was needed. She also loved being outside tending to her garden and was famous for sweeping her driveway daily.
She was preceded in death by her husband, her parents, her daughter Diane Hernandez Rubio (Juan Rubio), her sister Maria Campos (Chilo Campos), her grandsons; Christopher Lopez, Daniel Lopez, Sylvester Hernandez, Jr.; her granddaughter Alyssa Nicole Gonzales, Felipa is survived by daughters; Delores Cadriel (Bobby Cardriel, Sr.), Delfina Lopez (Ruben Lopez, Sr.; sons Guillermo "Willie" Hernandez, Jr (Josie Hernandez), Armando "Mando" Hernandez (Ginger Hernandez), Sylvester "Sylver" Hernandez (Terri Hernandez), Eusebio "Saby" Hernandez (Jackie Hernandez). 26 grandchildren, 62 great grandchildren, and 20 great, great grandchildren.
Visitation will be held on Thursday, December 26, 2024 from 5 - 6 PM, with a Rosary being recited at 6 PM, in the chapel of the Wheeler Funeral Home.
A Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 2 PM on Friday, December 27, 2024 at the St. Robert's Catholic Church, 512 Tegner Street, El Campo, Texas with Father Phillip Brune, officiating.
Burial will follow in the Holy Cross Memorial Park in El Campo, Texas. Pallbearers will Bobby Cadriel, Jr., Christian McLain, Ernest Hernandez, Marc Anthony Hernandez, Eusebio "Saby" Hernandez, Jr., and Phillip Grier. Honorary Pallbearers are Sylvester Hernandez, Jr. and John Contreras.
The Hernandez Family wishes to express their gratitude to the Staff of Choice Care Hospice for the care they provided for their Mother.
