Felipe Padilla, lovingly known to friends and family as "Pipe," passed away on September 25, 2024, at the age of 76. Born on November 27, 1947, in Toa Baja, Puerto Rico, Felipe was a man of strength, resilience, and dedication. As a construction worker, he built not only buildings but also strong relationships and a cherished family. His life was a testament to the words of Theodore Roosevelt: "Far and away the best prize that life has to offer is the chance to work hard at work worth doing."
Felipe moved from his hometown to Springfield, Massachusetts, where he lived for many years, raising his family and contributing to the community through his work in construction. He was a man who loved the outdoors, relishing his time fishing and watching horse races. His evenings were often spent playing dominos, a game at which he was both skillful and strategic. But above all, he treasured the times spent with his family, sharing stories and experiences that will be remembered and cherished.
Felipe is survived by his beloved wife, Modesta Rivera; his children, Orlando, Iris, Tati, Tamara, Yajaira, Felix, Steven, and Joel. He was preceded in death by his parents, Leocandio Padilla and Julia Cantre, and his sisters Mariaestelle, Nilda, Eliza, Milagro, and Ada.
A visitation will be held on Thursday, October 3, 2024, from 11:00 AM to 1:00 PM, at Puerta Del Cielo® Funeral Home, 730 State Street, Springfield, Massachusetts, 01109.
In the words of Maya Angelou, "People will forget what you said, people will forget what you did, but people will never forget how you made them feel." Felipe's legacy of hard work, love, and dedication will be remembered by all who knew him. May we all strive to live as he did, with passion for what we do and love for those around us.
