Felipe De Jesus Herrera, 62 left this world peacefully on October 15, 2024, surrounded by his loving family at his residence.
Felipe was born in C.D. Valles S.L.P Mexico on February 3,1962 the son of Felipe Herrera Salinas and Regina Torres Rivera. He grew up in Mexico where he developed a strong work ethic working with his father at an early age. Years later he came to the United States to pursue his dreams he started as a fieldworker and butcher. Later he became a supervisor at Mrs. Bairds Company where he worked for 20 years, his last job was as a granite fabricator.
A loving husband to Dolores Herrera, Felipe, was a pillar of strength and support for his family. Together they raised 4 children: Felipe, Jorge, Christopher and Joel Herrera. He was a devoted father always there to offer guidance, love and a hearty laugh. He cherished family gatherings, and his presence brought warmth and light to a room.
Felipe had many passions in life including watching his kids and grandchildren play in sports activities. He would get up and practice with them every chance he had.
He is survived by his loving wife Dolores Herrera of 42 years; his children Jorge, Christopher, Joel and his late son Felipe Herrera Jr; his 6 grandchildren; his daughter in laws, Omega, Angie, and Dariela Herrera; he is also survived by his siblings, Norma Alicia Herrera Torres, Hortencia Herrera Torres, and many nieces, nephews and friends who will miss him dearly.
Visitation will be held Friday October 18, 2024, 6PM-8PM, the rosary will begin at 7:00 PM at Elmwood Funeral Home, 5750 Hwy 277 South, Abilene, Texas. A funeral service to celebrate Felipe Herrera’s life will be held on Saturday October 19, 2024, at 10:00 AM at Elmwood Funeral Home, 5750 Hwy 277 South, Abilene, Texas, friends and family are invited to attend and pay their respects.
