Obituary published on Legacy.com by Malloy & Son Funeral Home - Galveston on Aug. 13, 2024.
Felipe DeJesus Molis Sr., known affectionately to friends and family as Phillip or "TP," passed away at the age of 59, on the 12th of August 2024 after a courageous battle with Hepatocellular Carcinoma. Born October 4, 1964, in
Galveston, Texas, Phillip grew up with a spirit of resilience and a heart dedicated to his children and grandchildren that would become his signature throughout his life.
Phillip's early years in Galveston were filled with the warmth of a close-knit community and the briny breezes of the Gulf Coast. His passion for life was evident in everything he did, a trait that he carried into his adulthood. Phillip was known for his strong work ethic and his ability to make something out of nothing even in the most stressful situations on the road, as a dedicated tow truck operator for numerous years and a longshoreman at the Port of Houston.
But it was not just his professional life that defined Phillip; his personal life was rich with love and laughter. He was a devoted father to his children: Destiny, Phillip "Brother" Jr., Deven, Hayden, Macy, Mason, Melissa and Kandis. Each of them carries a piece of their father's indomitable spirit and loving heart.
Phillip's interests were as varied as they were engaging. He had a lifelong love for racing, which he pursued with the same fervor he approached all his passions. Shooting pool was another pastime at which he excelled, often found sharing stories and laughter over the felt-covered tables with friends and family. Yet, it was the time spent with his children and grandchildren that Phillip cherished above all else. Whether it was a quiet evening at home or an adventurous day out, these were the moments that Phillip held near and dear to his heart.
His involvement with his work community extended beyond the boundaries of the job. Phillip was known for his willingness to lend a hand to whomever needed it and his commitment to his children and grandchildren. The bonds he formed through the years were a testament to his belief in the value of teamwork and dedicated father.
In times of reflection, Phillip often turned to the words of Ralph Waldo Emerson: "To laugh often and much; to win the respect of intelligent people and the affection of children... to leave the world a bit better... to know even one life has breathed easier because you have lived. This is to have succeeded." These words were a guiding principle for him, reflected in the way he lived his life and the legacy he leaves behind.
Phillip's journey through life was marked by the joy he found in simple pleasures, the pride he took in his work, and the love he had for his family. His laughter and his kindness will be deeply missed by all who knew him, but the memories of his unwavering spirit will continue to inspire those he leaves behind.
As we say goodbye to Phillip, we celebrate a life well-lived-a life that, in true Emersonian fashion, succeeded in touching the hearts of many and leaving a lasting imprint on this world. May his story continue to resonate with us, reminding us of the beauty of a life filled with love, laughter, and the pursuit of happiness.
Phillip's wishes were to express gratitude and appreciation to his sister, Angela, and brother-in-law, David Street, for the years spent alongside them and the love and support they have showed to Phillip and his younger children. He was truly grateful and appreciative.
Through the past several years he also formed a special bond with his niece, Annaliese Revia. He was honored to have the opportunity to teach her many life lessons, to have had many conversations, and shared many laughs together with her and the kids. He wants Annaliese to know that she has a special place in his heart and she was loved and appreciated.
Phillip is preceded in death by his son, Phillip "Brother" Molis Jr.; his parents, Julio S. Molis and Amalia Ramirez Kozak; his brother, Julio Anthony Molis; and his nephew, Val Anthony Molis.
He leaves behind to carry on his legacy his children: Destiny Rojas (Eric), Deven Molis (Taylor), Hayden Molis, Macy Molis, Mason Molis, Melissa Molis and Kandis McGowan; grandchildren: Demii Biscamp, Eric and Eero Rojas, and Devyn Molis; special niece: Annaliese Revia; his siblings: Angela Street (David), Augie Molis (Cynthia), Anna Stroud (Archie), Joe Molis (Amy), Cindy Reedy (Rick), Julie Molis (Emmanuel Kastis), Elena Molis (Julio Robles), Val (Dana), and Stephanie Gutierrez (Pedro).
The family would like to extend special thanks to Resolution Hospice and his caregiver, Mandi, and nurses, Karen and Tiffany, who took excellent care of him the last weeks of his life.
"No man can possibly know what life means, what the world means, what anything means, until he has a child and loves it." –Lafcadio Hearn
