Felix Alvarez

Felix A. Alvarez, 84, passed away on October 28, 2022, in Scottsdale AZ.
He was born on July 28, 1938, in Sancti Spiritus, Cuba to Antonio and Encarnacion Alvarez.
He studied at the University of Havana achieving a degree in Agricultural Chemistry. He later met and fell in love with my mom who happened to be his lab assistant! He was a devout husband to my mom Ivonne for 59 years.
In 1971 he left Cuba with his family to find a better life settling in NJ for 50 years and later moved to Arizona to be near his daughter.
He was a hardworking man and had a passion for fishing, nature, growing vegetables in his backyard and baseball.
He was a big Yankees fan, never missing a game on tv, he loved western movies, Cuban coffee and could roast the best Cuban style pork.
He is survived by his wife Ivonne, his daughter Ivonne Gierwielaniec and son in law Greg Gierwielaniec. His grandson Antonio Gierwielaniec and granddaughter Diana Gierwielaniec. His sister Aleida Alvarez and brothers Angel Alvarez, Antonio Alvarez, and Arturo Alvarez.
We have entrusted Hansen Mortuary with the arrangements. The Viewing will be Tuesday, November 8th from 5:30-7:30 PM. Services will be held Wednesday, November 9th at 10:30 am with graveside services following at Desert Hill Cemetery and Mortuary located at 6500 E. Bell Road, Scottsdale, Arizona 85254.
Expressions of sympathy, including flowers are welcome and can be sent to Hansen's Mortuary.
