Fermina "Nana" Valverde

Fermina Valverde, 72, a longtime resident of Deming, entered eternal rest, peacefully, on Friday October 3, 2025.

Fermina was a beloved Wife, Mother, Sister, Aunt, Cousin, and friend, but she was "Nana" to all.

Fermina was born October 27, 1952 in Deming, NM to Francisca Perez Pastran and Efren Pastran.

Survivors include her beloved husband, David Valverde, her daughter, Claudia Elena Montoya Peña and husband Frank Peña grandchildren, Mia, Jasmine, and Sophia Peña; Therese and Michael Gonzales; Mason and Eliza Valverde; her "Favorite Son-in-Law" Hoolie Andres Peña; Brothers, Ernest and wife Yolanda, Moses and wife Lisa, Ruben and wife Evelyn; Sisters Naomi, Lisa, Ruthie and husband Ray, and countless nephews, nieces and "adopted" children that she adored.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Francisca and Efren Pastran, her beloved husband Luis Montoya, son Louie Montoya III, daughter Adriana Nicole, brother Efren Pastran Jr, and sister Erlinda Pastran.

A Rosary will be held on Thursday, October 9th at 11:30am with a funeral mass to begin at 12 noon with Father Richard Catanach officiating at St. Ann's Catholic Church 400 S Ruby in Deming, NM. Cremation will then take place at Terrazas Crematory.

Serving as pallbearers are Ernest Pastran, Moses Pastran, Jacob Mendoza, Fred Payan, Ruben Pastran and Andres Peña.

Nana loved extravagant hats and purses, and she requested that her life be celebrated through a big "Hat party". We are asking everyone to dress up colorfully and wear a hat in her honor. Her favorite colors were purple and red.
