Our mother was a kind, caring and giving person who always put the needs of her family before her own. She was a strong woman who faced every challenge in her life with courage and dignity and was a source of inspiration to us all. She will be deeply missed by everyone whose lives she touched.
Fern, born on May 14th, 1942, to two doting parents, Roy and Elizabeth Fitzgerald in Middletown, Missouri. She enjoyed pastimes such as traveling, golf, hiking, reading and being around her family. After graduating from high school in 1959, Fern went on to pursue a degree in Finance at Sandford Brown in St. Louis, Missouri. She started her career in Finance with Marriott Corporation which kicked off a 25+ year stint in the field. She traveled the world with Marriott and became a key senior member of the team.
Fern was predeceased by her parents, Roy & Elizabeth Fitzgerald and is survived by her daughter Cheryl and her husband Paul Downing, her son Wayne and his wife Misty Manning, her sister Nina and brother-in-law Russell Roberts, her brother Gene and Sister-in-law Bonnie Fitzgerald, and many nieces and nephews who brought such joy to her life.
