Fern Lutz Obituary

Ashville Fern A. Lutz, 90 of Ashville passed away Saturday, March 7, 2026 at Brookdale Senior Living in Grove City. She was born on June 26, 1935 in Circleville to the late Robert Clarence and Emma Florence (Sark) Dennis.



Fern, with her late husband Taylor, owned and operated the Ashville Coffee Shop for 22 years. She then worked as a cook at Foxfire Golf Course and later worked as a cashier in the cafeteria at Teays Valley Schools. She was a member of Hedges Chapel, a Phythian Sister for many years, and a former member of the Nebraska Grange. Fern's favorite time of year was Christmas and the 4th of July. Besides her parents, she was preceded by her husband Taylor in 2018, daughter Carolyn Marie Lutz in 2005, sister Mary Helen Bandy, and brothers Carl, Ned, and Ted Dennis.

She is survived by sons, Dale E. and Scott A. Lutz, both of Ashville; special nieces and nephew, Mary Ann Miller and Ed and Sandy Dennis; numerous other nieces, nephews, great nieces and great nephews; along with her Hedges Chapel Church Family.

A Funeral Service will be held on Wednesday, March 11, 2026 at 1:00 PM at the Oliver-Cheek Funeral Home, 420 W. Main St. Ashville with Rev. Ron Reese, Rev. Steve Palmer and Rev. Rob Dauber officiating. The family will receive friends from 12 noon until the time of service at 1:00 p.m. Interment will follow in Harrison Township Cemetery. In lieu of flowers the family request memorials contributions be made to Hedges Chapel Church, 15495 Winchester Rd., Ashville, OH 43103. Online condolences to olivercheekfuneralhome.com. Fern Lutz
