Fern E. Studer

Fern Eileen Studer, age 89, of Shelbina, MO passed away on Friday, January 9, 2026 at the Baptist Homes of Shelbina.
Fern was born February 12, 1936 in Sangamon County, IL, the daughter of James T. and Mary Elizabeth (Richards) Miller. She was united in marriage to Merrel Cyrene Studer on October 17, 1954 in Shelbina, MO. He preceded her in death on September 12, 2016.
She is survived by four children, Carol Ann Corey (Albert) of Maywood, MO, Cindy Jones (Bill) of Shelbina, MO, Mary O'Brien (Curtis) of Kansas City, MO, and David Studer (Robin) of Monroe City, MO; one daughter-in-law, Linda Studer; 14 grandchildren; 37 great-grandchildren and 15 great-great grandchildren; one brother Jim Miller of Ewing, MO; and many nieces, nephews, and other extended family members.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Merrel; one son, Richard Studer; one great-grandchild, Austin Corey; one sister, Wanda Hale; one brother-in-law, Don Hale & one sister-in-law, Neva Miller.
Fern was a member of the Shelbina Christian Church, and worked at the Shelby County Senior Center. She enjoyed doing jigsaw puzzles, quilting, sewing, gardening and going to garage sales. Fern also loved to spend time with her kids & grandkids. According to Albert she was the best mother-in-law he had.
Funeral service will be held at 11 am on Saturday, January 17, 2026 at the Greening-Eagan-Hayes Funeral Home in Shelbina, MO, with Pastor Mitchell Seaton officiating. A visitation will precede the service starting at 9 am. Burial will directly follow the service in the Shelbina Cemetery of Shelbina, MO. Memorials may be made to Neighbors Helping Neighbors and Shelbina Christian Church.
