Fernald Roger Leach passed away on December 21, 2025 at NL Blue Hill Memorial Hospital in Blue Hill. He was 86 years old.

Fern was born on March 22, 1939 in Castine to Linwood and Helen (Perkins) Leach. He grew up in Penobscot and attended the Penobscot school and graduated from George Stevens Academy. He attended auto body school in Ohio and returned with a lifelong passion for restoring old vehicles to original specifications. He started his own auto body shop in Piper Square on Water Street in Blue Hill. He also worked at the KerrAmerican mines and St Regis Paper before working as a caretaker for many summer estates. He worked many years as the superintendent for the Blue Hill Wastewater Treatment plant as well as a dedicated member of the Planning Board. He had foresight for the development of South Street in Blue Hill creating the former South Street Market as well as several other commercial properties in his capacity as a real estate broker. He bought, sold and collected antiques and attended auctions. In his later years, he fully restored two vehicles: 1954 Mercury SunValley and 1953 Ford Indianapolis Pace Car Replica convertible.

He married the love of his life, Rachel Drucilla "Drucy" Emerton on December 23, 1958. They raised their family in several homes across Blue Hill being lifelong residents. He is survived by his wife, Drucy; his son, Ricky and daughter-in-law, Carol; his son, Vaughn and daughter-in-law, Melanie; grandchildren, Richard Brooks, Ari Leach and her partner, Erin, and Adrian Leach and his partner, Solon; and niece, Tina Gray and her husband, Jeff. He was predeceased by his parents, Linwood and Helen, his sisters, Geraldine Bragdon and Noreen Leach and nephew, Dana Bragdon.

A graveside service for family will be planned for Spring with a celebration of life after for those who wish to pay their respects.
