Fernand Cote Obituary
1933 – 2025
Canterbury – Fernand (Fred) Cote 91, of Canterbury and formerly of Baltic died Monday morning April 14 2025 at the Backus Hospital surrounded by his family. He was born in Baltic on September 8, 1933 the son of Raoul and Adelina Cote. Fred was employed as a welder at General Dynamics in Groton for 38 years before retiring. Fred loved to hunt and fish in his spare time. He was a former member of the Baltic Fire Department for many years and was a veteran of the U.S. Army. He was married to Marie Rachel Cote, who predeceased him in 2022. He is survived by seven daughters: Darlene (Tom) Guillot, Cheryl Cote, Kathleen (Dave) Joubert, Sherry (Dan) Cote, Tina McCarthy, Joy (John) Chapman and Angel (Maxine) Cote, twelve grandchildren, nineteen great grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.
Calling hours will be held Thursday April 17, 2025 at the Godere-Guillot Funeral Home, 21 North 2nd Avenue, Taftville, CT from 9:00 A.M. to 11:00 A.M. with a funeral service at 11:00 A.M. Burial will follow at St. Mary's Cemetery in Baltic. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in his memory to the charity of your choice. Godere - Guillot Funeral Home of Taftville is in charge of arrangements.

My heart is broken, I am so sorry for your loss. I wish I could make it up there to say goodbye, but his memory will live on. Please know my thoughts and love are there with you all. I have so many memories with Uncle Freddy, dad and Angel spending the days out fishing and cutting wood, swimming in the river. All of the family Christmas Eve parties we had.
