Fernando R. Apodaca

June 23, 1947 - July 17, 2025

State College, Pennsylvania - Fernando R. Apodaca, aged 78, of State College, passed away on Thursday, July 17, 2025, at Mount Nittany Medical Center, surrounded by his family. Born on June 23, 1947, in El Paso, TX, he was the son of the late Carlos Apodaca and Gertrudis Rodela de Apodaca.

Fernando is survived by his wife of 55 years, Yolanda; his daughters, Wendy Papazoglou (John), of State College, PA, and Aidé Gonzalez (Ross), of Plano, TX; his sister, Socorro Cecilia Acevedo, of El Paso, TX; his grandsons, Adam and Alexís; and step-grandchildren, Marcella and Lorenzo. He was preceded in death by siblings, Carlos Apodaca and Maria de los Angeles Estrada.

Fernando earned his Bachelor of Business Administration in Production Management from The University of Texas at El Paso in 1973. He began his career in the manufacturing sector as a production manager and subsequently advanced to the position of plant manager at M&Q Plastic Products. Fernando concluded his professional career with Halliburton in Dallas, TX, where he retired.

He cherished moments shared with his family, particularly enjoying attending events with his grandsons. An avid reader, he was deeply interested in world history, travel, and exploring various cultures.

A memorial service was held at Koch Funeral Home, State College.
