Fernando Ruben Avila, 47, passed away unexpectedly on June 20, 2024.
Born on April 29,1977, in Leoti, Kansas. Fernando was the cherished son of Ruben and Dorothy Avila. Fernando's life was defined by his tenacious spirit and a deep love for his family. Fernando had a profound passion for mechanics and an extraordinary talent for fixing things. He had an innate curiosity about how things worked, often taking apart, and reassembling anything he could get his hands on. He spent his career as a skilled mechanic, earning a reputation for his meticulous work and his ability to solve even the most challenging mechanical problems. His sense of humor and kind heart made him a beloved figure in the lives of many.
Fernando is survived by his parents, Ruben and Dorothy Avila; wife Elia Gonzalez; his son, Fernando "Fernie" Avila; three younger siblings; Laura Escalante, David Avila and Lisa Avila. He was a devoted father, brother, and husband, always supportive and caring, leaving a lasting impact on their lives.
Visitation will take place Thursday June 27, 2024 from 12:00 pm until 8:00 pm with Rosary starting at 6:00 pm all at Garnand Funeral Home of Garden City. Funeral Services will be held at 12:00 pm (Noon) Friday June 28, 2024, at Saint Mary Catholic Church, with Rev. Jacob Schneider officiating.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorials to the Fernando Ruben Avila Memorial Fund in care of Garnand Funeral Home, 412 N 7th Street, Garden City, KS 67846. Fernando's memory will forever be cherished by his family, friends, and all who had the privilege of knowing him. His warmth, generosity, and love will continue to inspire those he left behind.
