Fernando Alfredo Martinez was born on January 7, 1953 in
San Antonio, Texas in the neighborhood of Kenwood. He went to be with the Lord on January 14, 2025 at the age of 72.
Fernando is preceded in death by his parents, Alfredo and Juanita V. Martinez, two daughters, Tina Marie and Valerie Martinez and two brothers, Lalo and Mario Martinez and two sisters, Norma and Judy.
He is survived by his two brothers, Hector (Diane) Martinez and Ronnie (Debbie) Martinez, niece, Aileen Francine, special granddaughter, Crystal Reyes many nieces, nephews and cousins. Fernando is survived by his five sons, Fernie, Jimmy, Roman, Jr. and Matthew and their mother, Sara that includes 10 grandchildren and 3 great grandchildren all who reside in California. He also leaves behind two daughters, Tanya and Cherie. Fernando is also survived by his longtime girlfriend, Maria Reyes of
San Antonio, Texas and her her children, Joey, Ruben, Mary, Mac and Pearl. Together they shared 18 grandchildren and 5 great grandchildren. A special grandson named Josiah who shares the same birthday as his grandpa, Fernando.
As growing up in South Central and East Los Angeles, California. He endured his lavish suits, Tanditos and his music and where he became part of the lowrider community. Fernando loved his community from teaching his kids baseball, from working for the city of Los Angeles to forming and building a city park named Guardia Park in the neighborhood of El Sereno. To hosting Barbeques also being part of the Los Angeles Riots and enjoying his Oakland Raiders Football. Fernando loved to travel. As Fernando settled in
San Antonio, Texas he became part of the South Side Community of 25 years. He endured his detailing skills along with his brothers and made sure every car he was driving was immaculate. And showing off his best detailing skills for the lowrider shows that he would love to go to. Fernando loved his music from oldies to conjunto. Winning a dance contest with his Huera and became a poster for Tejano Conjunto Festival in 2011 for the Guadalupe Cultural Arts Center. He also loved playing his pool games and tournaments through out the city. He came in 2nd place for his league. One of his far most favorites was being a member of the Alamo City Raider Booster club of
San Antonio, Texas along side with president and best friend, Genaro Meras. Fernando was a devoted member who would not miss a game, tailgate party barbeque or any event when it came to watching his Raiders Football. Fernando's legacy and memory will live in the hearts of who knew him. He was a man who loved deeply and was deeply in loved in return. We say farewell to a remarkable man who lived a life as full and rich as the music he cherished.
His memory will dance on in the hearts of who knew Fernie. May he rest in Peace.
