Gilberto Gonzales, of San Antonio, Texas, passed away peacefully surrounded by his loved ones. He was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, brother, and friend.

Born to the late Juan Diego and Nicolasa Gonzales, he grew up in San Antonio and graduated from Edgewood High School. In 1956, he proudly joined the United States Army, serving as an Armor Intelligence Specialist. Following his military service, he worked as an Aircraft Electrician at Kelly Air Force Base and continued his service to his country in the United States Air Force Reserves, also as an Aircraft Electrician.

A man of many interests, he enjoyed golf, cars, planes, art, and music. Known for his humor, kindness, intelligence, and thoughtfulness, he was always handy and ready to help others. Above all, he cherished his family and faith, attending Resurrection of the Lord Catholic Church.

He is survived by his loving wife, Janie Gonzales; his children, Gilbert Gonzales, Linda (Henry) Ramirez, and Glen (Sonia) Gonzales; and his siblings, Adolfo Gonzales, Alfredo Gonzales, Arturo Gonzales, and Federico Gonzales. He will be dearly missed by his grandchildren, Greg Gonzales, Veronica Gonzalez, Giancarlo Gonzales, Jeffrey Reyna, Lee Ramirez, Layla Gonzales, Aaron Gonzales, and Lauren Gonzales, as well as his great-grandchildren, Mikael, Landyn, Luca, Caden, Adelyn, and Olive Jay.

He was preceded in death by his parents, his siblings Esther Cantu and Jose Diego Gonzales, his beloved son Lee Gonzales, and his grandson Enrique Sebastian.

He will be remembered as a funny, loving, and kind man whose legacy of love and laughter will live on through his family and friends.
