Federico Ortiz Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Castle Ridge Mortuary - West Military Dr. on Aug. 21, 2025.

Publish in a newspaper

Federico Ortiz, a man of profound faith, unwavering courage, and boundless love,

completed his earthly journey on August 15, 2025, in his beloved hometown of San

Antonio, Texas. Born on July 26, 1949, in the same vibrant city, Federico's life was a

testament to the power of dedication, service, and family.

Federico Ortiz is survived by his loving wife of 51 years, Maria Yolanda Ortiz; Children,

Rosario Ortiz Jacinto and Federico D. Ortiz; grandchildren, Elysse Epperson, Eryn

Epperson, Ethan Jacinto, and Elijah Jacinto; great-grandchildren, Robert Bobo IV, and

Julian Rios; siblings Norma Ortiz Herrera, Daniel Ortiz, John Ortiz, and Martin Ortiz.

Federico answered the call of duty early in life, joining the United States Marine Corps.

During his distinguished career, he served as a Drill Instructor, Master Diver, and

Recruiter. His courage and sacrifice were recognized with the award of the Purple Heart.

This Marine veteran held the rank of Gunnery Sergeant (E-7). He was a Rifle and Pistol

Expert, awarded multiple commendations including the Commendation Medal,

Achievement Medal, Combat Action Ribbon, Good Conduct Medal, National Defense

Service Medal. His valor in the Vietnam War and his global service marked him as a man

of true grit and patriotism.

He was the owner of De-Versified Services, a handyman business he built from the

ground up, where he became known for his skill, dedication, and willingness to help

others.

Fred especially loved spending time with his family, often with rock and roll oldies

playing in the background and barbecue on the grill, or working on projects that

showcased his gift for repairing and creating.

Federico Ortiz's life was a melody of devotion and service, a symphony of love that will

continue to resonate through generations. As we bid him farewell, we rejoice in the

knowledge that he has been called home by his Creator, where he will forever be in the

company of angels, resting in the promise of eternal life.

Visitation will be held on Wednesday, August 27, 2025, from 4:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at

Castle Ridge Mortuary, 8008 W. Military Dr., San Antonio, TX 78227, with a Rosary at 6:00 p.m.

A final viewing will take place on Thursday, August 28, 2025, from 9:30 a.m. to 10:30

a.m. at Castle Ridge Mortuary, followed by departure to St. Jude’s Catholic Church, 130 S.

San Augustine Ave., San Antonio, TX 78237, where a Mass will be celebrated at 11:00

a.m.
