Juana Feriend Obituary

On Saturday August 9, 2025, Juana "Janie" Feriend, beloved mother, grandmother, great grandmother and servant of the Lord, passed away at the age of 87.

Janie was born in Stonewall, TX on May 16, 1938. She and her husband, George Feriend, were married 57 years, until his passing in October 2022. She was a resident of San Antonio and at one time worked for Texas Togs as a seamstress and later retired from AT&T after 28 years of service as a long-distance telephone operator. Janie loved her family and enjoyed sharing her love for Jesus with others. She was a longtime member of Valley Hi First Baptist Church where she taught Vacation Bible School, delivered hot meals, and she and George held Bible Studies in their home. Janie was artistic and enjoyed painting, quilting, and various kinds of crafts. She was also known for her love of children, red birds, and animals, especially cats and dogs.

Janie was preceded in death by her parents, Manuel and Guadalupe G Reyes; stepmother, Dominga G Reyes; husband, George L Feriend; daughter, Celia E Reyes; grandson, Clinton Everett Feriend; sisters, Gloria Flores, Elvira Montoya; brothers, Raymond, Reggie, Miguel, and Dennis Reyes.

She is survived by her children: Hector "Manny" Santiago and wife Karen of McKinney, TX; Barry Feriend and wife Ann of Weatherford, TX; Gerald Feriend and wife Dolly of Castroville, TX; grandchildren: Joell Santiago and wife Karen; Vanessa Santiago; Adam Feriend and wife Mende; Jana Kazazic and husband Jazz; Jason Feriend and wife Lisa; Jessica Lawrence and husband Keith; 9 great grandchildren; sisters: Mary Alderete, Yolanda Williams, Irma Gouthier, Noemi Longoria, Rosalinda Huerta; brothers: Henry, Armando, and Balthazar Reyes; sister-in-law, Geraldine Reyes; and numerous other nieces, nephews and loved ones.
