Brownsville -Fernando Sanchez Jr., age 75, of Brownsville, Texas, passed away after a short illness on March 24, 2025. He was born on September 22, 1949, in Brownsville, Texas, to parents Fernando Sanchez and Guadelupe L. Sanchez, who instilled in him a strong work ethic and an unwavering love for his family. Fernando graduated from Immokalee High School in 1968. That same year, he married the love of his life, Elvira H. Sanchez. Together, they endured many joys and heartbreaks, including the loss of their first daughter, Grizelda Yvonne, who passed away after only four days. Despite the early sorrow, Fernando and Elvira's love endured, and they raised a beautiful family together, including four children, 13 grandchildren and five great grandchildren.
Fernando worked tirelessly throughout his life to provide for his family. His career began at Booth Fishery, and later he became a dispatcher at Valley Trucking, where he worked for over 35 years. Through his hard work and dedication, he rose through the ranks and became a respected figure in the trucking industry.
He leaves behind a rich legacy of love, hard work, and devotion to his family. Fernando is survived by his loving wife of 57 years, Elvira Hinojosa Sanchez, his children: Fernando E. Sanchez ((Janie Sanchez), Lorena Sanchez, Ashley Morales (Mario, Marcus, and Katelyn), Jenny Sanchez ((Christian,Garcia) Anthony, Alison, and Aiden), Victoria Sanchez), his daughters Melissa "Isha" West (Joseph), Claudia "Tener" Sanchez ((Damian Bennett) Marian, Cora, Alexander, Chloe, Cameron, and Caralin)), and Monica "Mona" Fernandez ((Jesse) Allegra and Benicio) and a brother Federico Sanchez.
Fernando was a loving husband, a devoted father, and a proud grandfather and great grandfather. He was known for his kindness, generosity, and his ability to make everyone around him feel like family. A hard worker and good friend, Fernando never met a stranger and always shared his love of dad jokes, bringing smiles to those he met. He will be greatly missed by his family and all who were blessed to know him.
