Entered into Rest on June 17, 2025 at Rose Arbor Hospice in Kalamazoo. Ferrante was born on September 13, 1936 in Castello di Porpetto, Italy the son of Abramo and Maria (Dri) Filiputti. Ferrante is a first-generation immigrant who traveled from Italy to the United States when he was 19 years old. He met his wife, Maria Gheller in Italy and they were united in marriage on October 11, 1958. Ferrante worked most of his life as a skilled Terrazzo and Tile installer. He worked at Central Tile & Terrazzo Company, retiring in 2002. He enjoyed fishing, hunting, gardening and watching soccer and playing soccer (in his younger years). His favorite soccer team was AC Milan. Ferrante was a loving husband, father and grandfather. He was a hard worker who was direct and to the point. He was generous and had a good heart for helping people.
Ferrante was preceded in death by his parents, Abramo and Maria Filiputti; his wife, Maria (Gheller) Filiputti on January 23, 2020 and his brother, Graziano Filiputti. Surviving are two children: Sandro (Robin) Filiputti and Rita (Brian) Wagner; four grandchildren: Amanda (Tyler) Garber; Andrew (Bailey Boyd) Hallam; Alexander Filiputti and Zachary Filiputti; three great grandchildren: Maxwell Garber, Isabella Garber and Henrik Hallam; sister Bruna Kibbey (Tom), brother Ettore (Marisa) Filiputti, brother-in-law, Mario Gheller; sister-in-law, Claudette Filiputti and several nieces and nephews.
Family and friends will be received on Monday, June 23, 2025 from 6-8 PM at Adams-Redmond Funeral Home, 4100 S. Westnedge Ave, Kalamazoo, MI 49008. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11:00 AM on Tuesday, June 24, 2025 at St Monica Catholic Church, 4408 S.Westnedge Ave., Kalamazoo, MI 49008, Fr. Russell Homic as Celebrant. Cremation will take place following the Mass. Interment of cremains will be in Mt. Olivet Cemetery and held at a later date. Memorial contributions may be made to St. Monica Catholic Church.
