Mr. Ferrees Hammonds, Sr., 92, of Winston-Salem, NC, passed away peacefully on Friday, August 23, 2024, at Forsyth Medical Center surrounded by his family.
Ferrees was born on December 24, 1931, to the late Lacy Hammonds and Cora Lee Hunt Hammonds in Robeson County, NC.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Evelyn Shelton; sons, Kenny and Ferrees Hammonds, Jr.; brothers, Talford, Calvin and Edward Hammonds; and sisters, Christine Hammonds and Clementine Mathis.
Those left to cherish his memory include his daughter, Gail Hammonds; eight grandchildren, Anthony and Adam Kight, T.C. Frazier, Amber, Daniel, Christy, and Kelly Hammonds, and Kathleen Chavis; twenty great-grandchildren; one great-great grandchild; and siblings, Freddie and Lacy Hammonds, and Annie Marshall.
A funeral service honoring the life of Ferrees will be held on Saturday, September 7, 2024, at 2:00PM at Hayworth-Miller Silas Creek Chapel with Pastor Quenton Walton officiating. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the funeral home. Burial will immediately follow the service at Gardens of Memory in Walkertown.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to a local charity of your choice.
