Fess Logan Obituary

Published by Legacy on Oct. 1, 2025.
Fess Sebastian Logan, the last child of eight children, was born on April 15, 1967, in Hackensack, New Jersey to the late John and Clara Logan. In 2023 when he was diagnosed with Chronic Kidney Disease (CKD) his family rallied around him in support but sadly on July 26, 2025, surrounded by his family, Fess transitioned into his heavenly home.
Fess received his primary education in Garfield Public Schools and went on to Bergen Technical School for High School. As a child he was involved with the Garfield Junior Boilermakers. He was baptized at an early age, at Calvary Baptist Church under the leadership of J.J. Robinson. He later attended Friendship Baptist Church with his dad, and sang in the Boys Chorus.
Fess was an extreme lover of everything outdoors such as camping, fishing and hunting. He was also a Harley Davidson enthusiast and gave many of his nephews their first ever rides on a motorcycle. Fess could pretty much drive anything from a dump truck to an 18-wheeler.
He was also a lover of dogs. Fess would sneak numerous dogs into the household, against his mother Clara's wishes, but she would eventually adopt the dogs as her own and she fed them almost as good as everyone else! He was also a lover of gadgets and electronics. On any given day you might find him driving a gas-powered remote-control car or flying a drone with a child- like excitement.
Fess was well known by many in the City of Garfield where he was a volunteer firefighter and a basketball coach at the Garfield Boys & Girls Club. He also worked for the City of Garfield DPW gaining the skills that he would later use to further his career in the trucking industry. Fess worked for E. Robinson and Sons Trucking Company for many years and he was employed by GCH Building Materials Company until he became disabled due to kidney disease.
Fess was preceded in death by his parents, John and Clara Logan; paternal grandparents John W. and Ella Logan; maternal grandparents Fess (who he was proudly named after) and Janie Mae Johnson; a nephew, Johnathan Logan; a special brother Thomas (Tommy) King. He leaves to cherish his memory 2 Children; Trever and Alexia Logan of Garfield NJ; 7 siblings, Venita Allen, Sheila Kelly, Harold Logan, John Logan, Helen (Lisa) Logan, all of Garfield NJ; Regina Hawkins of Henderson NC, and Joyce Mosley (Frank) of Woodstock Ga.; and a host of nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great nephews, cousins and friends.
Special Mentions: Fess became an uncle at the age of 1 years old, giving him a special relationship with his 3 nephews, Kenny, Troy and Barry and his niece Monique.
