Fidelis Chuks Abigide, age 66, passed away September 15, 2025, in Carrollton, Texas. He was born on September 26, 1958, in Nigeria, to his loving parents John Abigide Amuapali and Angelina Nwanso.

Fidelis was raised in Nigeria and received his early education at the Lagos Government Trade Center before moving to the United States to further his studies. He attended Wayland Baptist University, he set the Wayland Baptist University 100-yard track and field record at 9.4 seconds (1977). At Wayland Baptist University he majored in Biology and Physical Education, earning a master's degree.

With a strong sense of duty, Fidelis served as a deputy with the Lubbock County Sheriff's Department. Beyond his career, he found joy in fishing, traveling, and cheering on football and track. Family was always at the center of his life, and he cherished time spent with his loved ones above all.

In 2023, Fidelis was honored with a place on the Wall of Fame for Athletes in Lagos Nigeria, a testament to his dedication, talent, and lifelong passion for sports.

He will be remembered for his devotion to family, his service to the community, and the joy he brought to those around him.

Fidelis met the love of his life, Christy Ntoung-Mbi, and on February 12, 2016, they celebrated their love and commitment to each other, in Lubbock.

Fidelis is survived by his wife, Christy Abigide, of Aubrey, Texas; children, Don Abigide (Isioma), of Aubrey, Texas, Barbara Abigide (Olatunde Fawibe), of New York, New York, Catrina Davila (David), of Plainview, Texas, Janet Johnson (Mark), of Arlington, Texas, Fidelis Chuks Abigide II, and Tabot Eric Abigide, both of Aubrey, Texas; brother, Augustine Abigide, of Lubbock, Texas; sister, Patricia Nwanze, of Lindenwold, New Jersey; eleven grandchildren; and a host of family members, friends, and colleagues who will miss him dearly and forever cherish his memory.

Fidelis was preceded in death by his parents, his brother, Augustine Ifeanyi Abigide, and his aunts, Ifoma Abigide, Ego Abigide, and Stella Ossai.

A funeral service will be held at 12:00 p.m., Saturday, October 11, 2025, at Turrentine-Jackson-Morrow Funeral Chapel, 2525 Central Expressway North, Allen, Texas 75013. The service will also be live streamed at the following link: https://celebrationoflife.tv/. After the service, the recorded live stream will be available for viewing at the same link location. Following the funeral, a procession will make its way to Ridgeview Memorial Park for a committal service. Collin Sheriff Department will provide Funeral Honors.

The family will have visitation from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. on Friday, October 10, 2025 at the funeral home.
