Weslaco- Filemon Cespedes, a devoted husband, father, and cherished friend, peacefully departed this world on September 13, 2025, in Weslaco, Texas, at the age of 85 surrounded by his family. Born on June 8, 1940, in Jaumave, Tamps, Mexico, Filemon embraced life with kindness and unwavering faith, traits that left a profound impact on everyone fortunate enough to know him.

For over two decades, Filemon worked diligently at Pioneer Company, embodying the essence of hard work and dedication. Yet, his most treasured role was that of a family man, nurturing a loving home filled with laughter and warmth. He often reflected on the importance of family gatherings, establishing strong bonds and creating beautiful memories that will forever resonate among those he loved. Known for his signature phrases, "Hasta Luego Viejo" and "Aguas Kitty," Filemon brought joy and humor into every moment, making others feel at ease and valued.

He fondly recalled the simple pleasures of summer vacations and the joy of celebrating Easter with family, always finding the perfect spot to gather together. Filemon had a passion for playing cards and dominoes, sharing countless afternoons enjoying these games with family and friends. He also shared a special bond with his son-in-law Jerry, often relishing barbecues that filled the air with delightful aromas and laughter.

Filemon was not only a pillar of strength for his loved ones but also a giver in every sense of the word. He provided invaluable advice to his children and offered his helping hand to anyone in need. His warm heart and generous spirit will be remembered fondly by all.

In 2003, Filemon proudly became a United States citizen, fulfilling his dream of building a life in America and ensuring a brighter future for his family-an achievement that stands as a testament to his hard work and resilience. Because of his testament his two sons, Jose and Filemon now proudly serve and work as Agents for the US Border Patrol. His grandson, Joshua Pena also proudly served our country in the US Air-Force branch.

He is survived by his beloved wife, Fidela Cespedes; his devoted children, Jose Merardo (Barbara) Cespedes, Filemon Merardo (San Juanita) Cespedes Jr., Lorena Cespedes, Benita (Aldo Maldonado) De Leon, Anna (Jerry) Garcia, and Veronica (David) Garza; as well as his cherished siblings, Silvano Cespedes; and a proud legacy of 15 grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren who brought immeasurable joy to his life.

Filemon is preceded in death by his cherished siblings: Aurelio Cespedes, Jose Cespedes, Julio Cespedes, Frumencio Cespedes, Eladio Cespedes, Juan Cespedes, Manuel Cespedes, Alicia Cespedes, and Olivia Cespedes. Their memories will remain forever in the hearts of those they touched.

His life will be celebrated with a viewing on September 17, 2025, at Salinas Funeral Home of Weslaco - Chapel of Grace from 5:00 PM to 9:00 PM, followed by a rosary at 7:00 PM. A Mass will be held on September 18, 2025, at St. Pius X Catholic Church at 1:00 PM, leading to interment at Highland Memorial Park in Weslaco at 2:00 PM.

As we remember Filemon Cespedes, let us carry forward his legacy of love, laughter, and devotion to family, cherishing the moments we hold dear and honoring the kindness he shared so freely with others.
