It is with deep sorrow that we announce the passing of Liliana Zapata, a beloved daughter, wife, sister, and friend, who departed this life on September 16, 2025. Born on January 5, 1973, Liliana illuminated the lives of all who knew her with her vibrant spirit, unwavering kindness, and compassion for others. Liliana had her Masters Degree in counseling and she was an art teacher at Mary Hoge Middle School for 22 years.
Liliana will be profoundly missed by her devoted husband, Esteban Ortiz, who stood by her side through life's joys and challenges. She is also survived by her loving mother, Ana Maria Zapata, who provided her with unconditional support and guidance throughout her life. Liliana leaves behind three brothers, Jose Rene Zapata, Roberto Manuel Zapata, Jesus Zapata; three sisters, Elvira Zapata, Teresa Zapata & Rosario Etheridge.
She is preceded in death by her father, Roberto Manuel Zapata, Sr.
Her life was a testament to love, resilience, and the pursuit of happiness. Liliana's natural ability to connect with those around her touched countless hearts. Her legacy will endure in the many lives she enriched with her kindness, wisdom, and laughter.
Vistiation will be held 2:00 PM to 9:00 pm Sunday, September 21, 2025 at Salinas Funeral Home of Weslaco - Chapel of Grace with a 7:00 PM Rosary. Family and friends will gather to celebrate Liliana's life and cherish memories they shared. A 10:00 AM Funeral Mass will be held on Monday, September 22 2025 at St. Joan of Arc Catholic Church. Cremation will follow at Val Verde Memorial Gardens in Donna, TX.
In this time of loss, we invite those who knew Liliana to remember her not in sorrow, but in the joy and love she so freely gave to the world. Her spirit will forever remain alive in our hearts.
