Filemon Arteaga Lopez

Filemon Arteaga López, 79, of Haines City, FL passed away on January 29, 2022 at AdventHealth Heart of Florida. He was born on March 26, 1942 in Rancho Los Cerritos, Atolinga, Zacatecas, Mexico to Casimiro Arteaga and Rita López. He moved to Haines City in June of 1989 from Chicago, Illinois. Prior to retiring in 2004, Filemon worked as dishwasher for 15 plus years at a Ponderosa Steakhouse in Kissimmee, FL. He was of the Catholic faith.
Filemon had a passion for collecting guns and knives. You could often run in to him at McDonalds, where he enjoyed a cup of coffee most mornings. His family was his number one priority. He devoted his entire life to his wife, children, and grandchildren, whom he enjoyed spending time with and help raise. He loved traveling to Mexico and his dream was to go back home one day to his family farm.
He is preceded in death by his parents; wife, Liduvina Arteaga; sons, José Guadalupe and Nemecio Arteaga; and son-in-law, Miguel Arteaga. Filemon leaves behind to cherish his memory his daughters Maricela Arteaga and Cristofina Arteaga; Luz Herminda Hernandez and husband, David, and sons, Armando Arteaga and wife, Nicolasa, Misael Arteaga and wife, Susana, and Claudio Arteaga and wife, Sitha; brother, Emilio Arteaga; sister, Guadalupe Arteaga; nineteen grandchildren; and fifteen great grandchildren. His family will remember him as a devoted husband, loving father, and grandfather.
A funeral service will be held on Friday, February 4, 2022 at 2:00 p.m. with a visitation at 3:00 p.m., all at Oak Ridge Funeral Care in Haines City, FL. Filemon's final resting place will be at Forest Hill Cemetery in Haines City, FL.
