Finn Sojourner Ira Darling was born on January 10, 1996, in Indianapolis, Indiana, to Michael A. Day and Shannon D. Sims.
They passed away on December 16, 2022, due to complications from RFV, pneumonia, and Eosinophilic Asthma.
Despite having this rare form of asthma, Finn worked hard to live a life filled with curiosity, learning, self-discovery, and strived to be a good friend to every person they met whether they met them once, occasionally, or for years. Finn enjoyed and had a talent for tarot reading, runes reading, and other esoteric pursuits.
Finn lived in Indianapolis, Indiana, Kingsport, Tennessee, Elizabethtown, Kentucky, Mechanicsburg, Pennsylvania, and Bettendorf, Iowa. They attended Bettendorf High School where they were a clarinetist, a member of the marching band, and a section leader. They were on the diving team, their sophomore year. They were an honor student and had several offers from colleges and universities, choosing the University of Northern Iowa, where they received an academic scholarship. They majored in operatic performance. Finn was a member and advocate for the LGBTQ+ Community. Their pronouns were they/them/their.
They were preceded in death by their brother, Gabriel A. D. Sims.
They are survived by their spouse, McKenzie "Mick" Beck; parents, Michael A. Day & Kimberly S. Day and Shannon D. Sims & Anthony R. Sims; brothers, Michael A. Day II, Robert A. Day and David P. Day.
A sharing of memories will be held 6 p.m. Thursday, January 12, 2023, at Flanner Buchanan – Washington Park East, 10722 East Washington Street, Indianapolis, Indiana, 46229. Memorial gathering will take place from 5 p.m. until time of service.
