A few years ago, I knitted a purple vest for Flogie as a memento of our friendship. Upon receiving it she enthused "Thank you! This is like receiving a Purple Heart." What a sense of humour! Into your hands I commend her spirit, O Lord. Let perpetual light shine upon her.

On behalf of Flogenida's classmates and friends of SCS class'66 (we call our group spirit of '66), I tender this
Farewell to Flogie - beloved wife, mother, sister, in-law, aunt, grandmother, friend
I'm still wading through the
overwhelming or deafening hush
that follows a heartbreaking news.
It's one of our darkest moments to accept
the sudden passing of someone near and dear to us.
What a significant loss of an incredible soul!
Heavy is the burden of grief in our hearts,
weighed down by intrusive anguish and sorrow.
The hurt we feel now can dissipate as we reflect
on the countless inimitable stories of altruism,
kindness, compassion, generosity, loyalty and many more, encompassing the spirit of Flogie's unique human experience.
We seek comfort in the thought that Flogie lived a full,
good and beautiful life that made a real
difference in the lives of so many people
in her personal and professional roles of
wife, parent, sister, in-law, provider, healer, teacher,
life coach, spiritual mentor, and community leader.
While God's will cannot be undone, we will
treasure forever in our living memory the pure
sense of humanity Flogie propagated and demonstrated all her life.
How very fortunate for us to have known her
for decades and now we face elusive days
ahead of peace and quiet but bouyed by memory
of Flogie in abundant streams of life.
This temporary emptiness we feel presages
a return to where it all started and we shall
join you Flogie in our individual time frames;
Hence, this is not goodbye, but so long
dear friend. Rest now in peace.

Flogenida (classmates called her Flogie) and I were born and raised in the same town of Carcar. She and I were classmates from kindergarten through to high school. In university we spent one semester at the same lodging place called Sto. Rosario. She took Pre-Med courses at University of San Carlos. Flogenida was fondly called Inday Gamay by her parents because she was the youngest child and only daughter and who is also very lovable. I knew Flogie to be a very cheerful, loving and generous person. She easily laughed at the simplest jokes. I can't remember an instance when she hurt me either through her action or words. She was one who was very nice to anybody regardless of a person's social status. I know of a few people who had been recipients of Flogie's generosity and kindness. I am sure that she will be sorely missed by so many people especially those whose lives she touched in her lifetime. I have lost a dear friend, text mate, email buddy and phone pal rolled into one; and I will surely be grieving over this big loss for sometime. My condolences to the family of Flogie and prayers for the eternal repose of her soul.
