Of all my professors at U of D, Signora Calabrese is the one I never forgot. I had the privilege of doing a study abroad in Italy for winter session under her supervision and tutelage and to date, it was the most memorable experience in my life. It´s with great sadness that I learned of her passing, and Joe´s as well. My mom stayed in contact with Joe in weekly phone chats until not long ago and shared this sad news with me. To the surviving family, my condolences. May good memories sustain you through this difficult and sad time. Signora, you will never be forgotten.

To the Calabrese and Liotine Famiglie,
My mother just shared the news about the passing of Signora Calabrese and her spouse Joe- I am so sorry for your losses. I was a student of the brilliant and wonderful Signora at U of D where I had my formal teaching of Italian, although I grew up in an Italian household. "Tu scendi dalle stelle" and "L'italiano" were 2 songs that make me think of her each time I hear them. Italian language and culture- the best! She was simply incredible and I will miss her. Such accomplished and blessed persons- I wish I could get on the a plane to attend their funeral- it would be an honor to be there. I will say special prayers for their souls. May they rest in peace.
