Florence J. Cerny

Florence Cerny, 96, of Ballston Lake passed away peacefully at her home on April 28, 2025 with her family by her side. She was born in Elmira, New York on July 12, 1928 to Wilson and Christine Bump.
Florence was a mom, grandmother, great grandmother and so much more. Family meant the world to her. She was a mother figure to many families, welcoming all children into her home with a pure heart. Her love for children and friends was overwhelming. She babysat for many children in town growing up, who then grew up and now have families of their own. She provided a happy environment for them to grow up in while their parents were working.
She was a member of the First Baptist Church of Ballston Spa for many years, and helped co-found the Church Mouse Nursery School which started in 1975 and is still running to this day. She was also a proof reader for the Ballston Journal.
Left to cherish her memory and loving spirit are her children Joseph Cerny, Steve (Sherri) Cerny, Michael (Tammy) Cerny, Eric (Mary) Cerny, and Lisa McDonough. She is also survived by many grandchildren, great grandchildren, nieces, and nephews.
In addition to her parents, she is predeceased by her husband William and daughter Mona Speranza.
The most important things in Florence's life were her family and her faith in the Lord. She was an inspiration to us all and leaves us with many good memories to hold onto.
Relatives and friends are invited to calling hours on Sunday, May 4, 2025 from 2PM to 5PM at the Armer Funeral Home, Inc. 39 East High Street, Ballston Spa. A service for Florence will take place Monday, May 5, 2025 10:30 AM at the funeral home. Burial will follow in the Gerald BH Solomon Saratoga National Cemetery, where she will be laid to rest with her husband William.
The family would like to extend a special thanks to the Community Hospice, who provided warm and compassionate care to Florence in her final days.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests any memorial contributions in memory of Florence be made to the Community Hospice or the American Heart Association.
